I hope that everyone had a wonderful Mother’s day! I am delayed this week in getting you weekly emails, but here they are! There are also many important announcements in this email so please take time to read those.
-May 18th- 4th grade Career day. We are looking forward to hearing about various careers throughout the morning. -May 21st- Movie time for Fun Run reward -May 22nd- 4th grade Awards day (see below about the invitation), Ice Cream Social, and grade level yearbook signing, Early Release -May 23rd- Early Release and Last day of school First, I would like to say thank you for all of the teacher appreciation last week! I was overwhelmed with your kindness. I love each thoughtful gesture, note, and gift. Red folders came home today. You will see many graded papers as we wrap up this quarter and year. There will also be one final set of papers to go home. I ask that folders are returned by Thursday so that I can send home papers again on Friday. Invitations for the fourth grade awards ceremony went home this afternoon. The invitation is in your child’s red folder. Please note that attendance and grades are not finalized until Friday, so these may be subject to change. Yearbooks - I hope everyone is enjoying their yearbooks. Parents, if you have not had an opportunity, please skim through the inside of the book and see if you notice any sections missing. We have had a few instances where random sections were missing from a few books. I want to make sure your book is complete. I think this is isolated to a few books, but I want to be sure every is happy. If you notice anything missing, let me know ([email protected]), and I will provide a new copy. In Science, students will begin working on an ocean animal research project. This project will incorporate ELA and Science standards and prepare students for the animals that they will see at the Georgia Aquarium. Projects are due on April 30th. We will work on this in Science and some in ELA. Your child will also work on this at home and you will see that written in the agenda. A reminder from the PTA: Did you volunteer for any PTA Event this year? If so, then come Eat, Drink, and be Super at our PTA Volunteer Appreciation Night this Sunday! Your RSVP is requested. Thank you so much for having your child to school each day last week and on time. Please do so again tomorrow and Tuesday. Our changed lunch and specials schedule is for Monday and Tuesday of this week and then we are back to “normal” on Wednesday. Below are reminders for April and May. Recorder Concert time is here! The students have worked really hard this year to learn the recorder and it’s time to show off for you! Thursday, April 26th 6:30 pm (Students be there 6:15pm) Please wear nice school clothes and bring your recorder Life Church 4100 King Springs Rd SE, Smyrna, GA 30082 STRONG VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! I need parents to: - help set up risers before the concert (between 3:00-5:00pm) - tear down the risers after the concert, load them onto their trucks, and deliver them back to King Springs. Field trip forms and money are due April 11th. Crafty Hog Spirit Night 6-9pm on Tues, March 27th Cultural Arts Assembly- Friday, March 30th Spring break! April 2-6th Reminder that our 4th grade PTA performance is April 26th. You will love hearing all of those recorders at once J *Next Friday, our lunch time will not be until 12:30 so please send your child with a filling, healthy snack. As you know, Milestones testing is right around the corner. Our testing dates will be Tuesday, April 10th-Thursday April 12th and Monday, April 16th- Tuesday, April 17th. It is important that your child is back at school the Monday following Spring break. I wanted to send out a few reminders before spring break brain kicks in at the end of next week! Testing begins each morning at 8:15. Please make sure that your child is in bed at a decent time and eats breakfast each morning. In Math: Classes are reviewing concepts taught this year, as well as continuing with new concepts. Measurement, Geometry, and Decimals will be learned in the next couple weeks. In Science: We will learn more about the Earth and Moon. In addition, students will be given a project to work on until mid-April. In class, they have been completing research on a planet, telescopes, and constellations in preparation for this. This project will be worked on at home and school. In ELA: We are continuing to write and review various genres: opinion, informative, and narratives. In addition, we are learning and reviewing language conventions and grammar concepts. Happy Friday!
