Parents,
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Winter Break! The weather was amazing and I was thankful to enjoy some sun and warmth with Wyatt. This email is lengthy, but contains a lot of important reminders for this week. - Please see the message below for Jump Rope for Heart. During PE this week, students will participate in jumping rope, but you can continue to fundraise all week. - Picture day is Thursday! Please send in the picture order form on Thursday (I sent it home the week before the break). - Read Across America is this week! Each day will have a different theme. I am also planning to read a different Dr. Seuss book each day. If your child would like to bring in a book from home, we will try to get through all of the books. Monday- Wear as many different colors as possible Tuesday- Wear crazy socks Wednesday- Wear a crazy hat Thursday- dress for picture day, but bring in a BEAR to Be Excited About Reading Friday- Wear school colors - Six Flag Reading logs are due Tuesday! Please make sure that you sign the form and your child has totaled the amount of reading time before it is turned in. I have to enter these into the computer by the end of the week. - Don't forget to check Seesaw- pictures from the Fire Safety Village and our most recent STEM day have been added. Content: In Science, we are beginning our new unit, Stars and Planets. During this unit, students will: know the attributes of stars and planets. The will understand why stars and planets appear to be larger or brighter than other stars. Students will differentiate between stars and planets in the night sky. Students will understand the composition of the planets and the sun. On Thursday, Mrs. Denny and I will combine our SS and Science classes for a fun and educational Dr. Seuss/Content integration. In Math: Most classes are working on fractions. My math class will wrap up fraction concepts this week and move into decimals. In Language Arts: Classes will wrap up our study of Black History poets and students will participate in a poetry cafe. Finally, red folders may come home this week, or I may hold off until next week. I will have your child note this in their agenda on Tuesday once the decision has been made. LOGIN From PE coaches: You are doing such an incredible job helping the American Heart Association save lives! Thank you for doing your part to make a difference, because every dollar counts. With one week left until our event, there is still time to spread the word and raise money. The event will take place during your P.E. class the week of February 26 to March 1. Be sure to wear your sneakers on your P.E. day so you may participate in all our fun activities. Donations are due on Friday, March 2 for the students at the 2-5 campus. Remember - if you raise just $5, you will earn Jax! AND if you receive a donation online, you will get Charger! But wait, it doesn't stop there, if you raise $40 online you will receive our new plush Disco! All these monsters come to life on your app! Need help raising donations? Here are some quick and easy ideas to try! 1. Register and get a free glow in the dark wristband - It's new this year and can be brought to life when downloading the app! Challenge 10 or more friends to join you and donate! It’s a great way to spread the message of heart health and give others the opportunity to support you! 2. EMAIL - Login to your HeadQuarters and use the email tool to ask friends and family to support you with a donation. And we've made it easy for you by providing a pre-written fundraising letter! (Can your parents send an email to their co-workers for a donation?) 3. DOWNLOAD THE MOBILE APP and bring your monsters to life and fundraise on the go - Ask your parents to download the (free) Jump/Hoops app for iPhone or Android. Ask your Mom and Dad to share your fundraising page on Facebook, Twitter or by text! Thank you and keep up the great work! Your Team King Springs P.E.
