Parents, I hope that everyone is having a great weekend! On the red folder signature sheet, I am making one change. I am going to write the number of papers coming home that have a score below a 74. Please take a moment to look over these papers with your child so that they can correct errors and you can gain an understanding of skills to continue to review. Science Projects are due January 22nd. If your child turns in a project, they will receive a 100 as extra credit in Science. We will be walking through all projects during Science on the 23rd and the projects will be on display for STEM night on the 25th. Here is a link to help with completing a science project: http://kingsprings.typepad.com/science_fair/ccsd-science.html Coming up is an informational meeting about the Milestones. If your child took the Milestones, this would be the same information given last year. You are welcome to attend, but it is not necessary. If your child has not taken the Milestones testing in Georgia, I encourage you to attend. Please see the attached flyer for more information. Coming up this week:
*On February 5th, we will go to the Fire Safety Village. I will need one parent to join as a chaperone. If you would like to attend, please email me by Friday. I will draw a name next weekend. Content updates: In Science, we will continue with our Sound unit. Students will visit various sound stations this week and reflect on one way to make an item in our classroom quieter. For Hodge ELA and Math only:
Happy "Weather" Day!
It appears that January Mondays and school are going to be few this beginning of 2018. I look forward to seeing the students tomorrow. I am a little late getting this email out today so I am sure many of you are like me and gearing up for the big game soon! Tomorrow, we will be switching classes and moving as usual. I am sure that there will be some tired students, but we must keep moving. We don't have any major events or schedule changes this week. In Science, we will fully get into the Sound unit. I will not be sending home graded papers or red folders tomorrow since we are just 3 days into the third quarter. Please return the signed report card envelope and red folder this week. Thank you as always for your support at home, Heather Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had an enjoyable holiday break and a great start to the New Year.
A few reminders as we get back into the swing of things:
*In Science, we will begin a unit on Sound. If your child plays a musical instrument outside of school, and they would like to “play” for the class, please send me a video or sound clip. I will play these during the unit.
