Good morning,
I hope you are staying warm today and enjoying the weekend so far! Reminder that STEM night is Thursday at the K-1 campus from 6-8:30. I look forward to seeing you there! Since we are out of school Monday, there will not be Block on Friday and we will go to STEM. Thank you for returning the report card envelopes and I appreciate all of your support at home. I gave students some time to review math facts at home and this week we will be back to nightly homework. Students should also continue to read 15-20 minutes each night. If you have fairy tale books or versions of a fairy tale, those would be a great choice for homework since we are studying them in class. A book order will be coming home this week. I have several items in my cart to order, so orders are due January 29th. School reminders:

Good afternoon,
Although the weather has been gloomy, I’ve enjoyed a weekend inside relaxing with Wyatt. I hope you were able to find some rest as well. I am encouraging all students to be reading for the Six Flags reading log due on February 2nd. I did not assign formal reading homework last week and am not going to this week so that students can use their time to read towards the 6 hours. Please let me know if you need another copy. Report cards were sent home Friday. Please return the envelope to me this week. Your children are working hard and I encourage them to do so as we finish the last half of second grade. It is very important that your child is fluent in addition and subtraction facts. If you aren’t sure whether or not they are, ask them some facts and see if they can tell you quickly without counting on their fingers. The 100th day is Thursday. While we don’t celebrate in the larger way that K-1 does, I still want to put some fun things into this day. If your child has an interest in collecting 100 things to display, draw, write, etc., I will put those in the room. Or if anyone is interested in sending in a special snack that day, we will enjoy that. I have some fun 100 things to think about ourselves activities and some fun math things. KSE is looking forward to having Lesa Cline Ransom come visit for our Author Visit on February 15th. We are not able to sell books per CCSD; however, if you are interested in buying a book of hers before the visit, she will be happy to sign them while she is here! I hope that everyone enjoyed the break! I had a great time with family and Wyatt and now I am looking forward to seeing the children tomorrow. We will be working on our Science Fair project this week. I welcome any parents that would like to help with the experiment or board presentation.
