The students were excited about the opportunity to use their points for rewards in class. Although you can’t see your child’s point total, they usually know their total points and can see it when it is displayed on the board. The new school year is here, and football season is right around the corner! This season, the Atlanta Falcons are excited to continue the Together We Rise: Falcons Friday School Program! We’re inviting Cobb County to join us in wearing your Falcons colors and showing your Falcon’s Pride every Friday before a home game. Every Friday this season is Falcons Friday but specifically, Cobb County Falcons Fridays are Friday, October 5 and Friday, November 16.

The second session is from 7:35-8:00 and this is the session that I will be attending in my son's classroom. I apologize for the error and any conflicts that this causes. Target Open House for current students is at 5:30 in the Learning Commons. He is our black lab (stuffed animal 😊) that will come home with a student each weekend. Your child will also bring home his journal to write and draw about his experiences while at home with them. I've explained to students that if they are chosen for the weekend and they know it is not a good weekend or they are traveling out of town they can let me know and I will save them for a different week. They were very excited and enjoyed naming our new friend! Math: This week will continue with place value and we will begin skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s. Lessons will focus on taking a small story and retelling and writing it with detail. At home, I encourage you to talk with your child about any of these regions that you have visited. The students are getting adjusted at the 2-5 campus and in second grade. Beginning this week, students will be given a choice board for Morning work. They will choose from 9 activities of various tasks. There are 4 challenge tasks if they finish the board early. The tasks focus on skills learned the previous week, creative opportunities, reading, board games, and construction challenges. As we begin the board this week, students may choose any activities, but on the next choice board they will be required to complete 1-2 activities and then choose from the rest.
Fingers crossed- I think Dojo should be up and running tomorrow. If you haven't connected, or your code doesn't work, let me know and I can invite you through your email. Clubs start tomorrow- please send me a note if your child will be attending a club. It is helpful to send me a note each week, just in case I am out unexpectedly. A reminder to return the clinic card that came home in the Cobb folder. I need to collect these cards so that I can give them to the nurse. If your child has any allergies that I should be aware of, please let me know so I can plan with you if we do any activities with food. I keep snack on hand for any students that don't have one. I welcome any snack donations to keep in the classroom.
